Motoring the Mighty Miss State HOG Rally...
Mark Twain’s river awaits you on this 5-day tour down the “Mighty Miss” slated for June 20-24, 2010.
You’ll begin your journey in Duluth on Sun afternoon. We’ll guide you on your way & give you the tools you’ll need at a rider’s meeting in the early evening.
Your bike will be traveling west on Mon toward the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Take in the forested back roads of the Minnesota northwoods & enjoy the Native American culture in the evening during a powwow.
Your true sense of river piloting begins Tues morning at Itasca State Park & the Headwaters of the Mississippi. End your afternoon at Fort Snelling where you’ll listen to the cannons fire. Jump aboard a paddleboat for an unforgettable dinner & spectacular experience that riverboat captains would have taken in days of yore.
On Wed, you’ll experience the grandeur of bald eagles that will soar overhead as you work your way downriver. Stop in at the National Eagle Center to see eagles up close & personal. The quiet of the river road & its towns, which are a step back in time will be a contrast w/ the activity you will experience when you get to Lacrosse. Toast the rally w/ local beverages, members of an Oktoberfest Royal Family, & Grand Marshalls from year’s past.
On the last morning, you’ll make a stop at the Potosi Brewery where you can take in their River Transportation Museum to learn how beer was shipped downstream in the days of the steamboats. Finish w/ a dealership party at Dubuque H-D before heading downtown for the final landing of your trip. At the Grand River Center you’ll enjoy dinner on the river followed by closing comments & prizes.
